When you ask Alexander Frieborg why he keeps returning to Nepal, these words come naturally. They are not empty phrases – they are essences. Impressions that have been imprinted. Scent of sandalwood and spicy tea. Landscapes where the horizon consists of sky and Himalayas. People whose smiles cannot be bought. And mountains that teach you humility without saying a word.
When the native of Hamburg first set foot on Asian soil in the early 70s, he had no idea that this journey would take him not only geographically, but also spiritually, to a new place. Back then, it may have still been a thirst for adventure. Today, it is a lifelong love.
What began with a backpack has long since become a life mission. Nepal, India, Tibet – these regions are more than just destinations on a map for him. They are milestones on an inner journey. A journey towards more understanding, more connection – and a different perspective on life.
Today, Alexander Frieborg speaks fluent Nepali – not to make a show of it, but to listen. To understand. To build bridges between cultures that often remain estranged, even though they have so much to say to each other. The local people appreciate him not only as a business partner, but as one of their own. Someone who has come to stay – at least in their hearts.
